FieldPrism Privacy Policy

FieldPrism (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is a mobile application designed to capture and process field images using photogrammetric markers and smartphone cameras. We respect your privacy and are committed to being transparent about how the app uses permissions and data.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we do not collect, how app permissions are used, and what rights you have.

1. Data Collection and Use

We do not:

Collect personal information from users
Create user accounts or profiles
Track your behavior across apps or websites
Sell, rent, or share your data with third parties
Store any data on our servers
Use analytics, advertising SDKs, or crash reporting tools
Record any data from your device at all

All processing occurs on your device. Any content you create or capture using FieldPrism (such as photos, metadata, or files) remains on your device unless you explicitly export, share, or back it up using third-party services of your choice (e.g., email, cloud storage).

2. Permissions Used by the App

FieldPrism requires certain system permissions to function properly. These permissions are used only for the purposes described below.

2.1 Camera

Permission: Camera
Purpose: Enables capturing images directly within the app.
Data Handling: Photos are stored locally on your device. We do not upload or transmit images.

2.2 Location

Permission: Approximate and/or precise location
Purpose: Allows optional recording of GPS coordinates with your images for scientific or field documentation.
Data Handling: Location data is used only in real time and stored locally with your images. It is never transmitted to us.

Location access is optional. If disabled, features requiring location may not function.

2.3 Storage / Photos / Media / Files

Permission: Read and write access to device storage (or Android’s modern scoped storage equivalent)
Purpose:
- Save images and files created within the app
- Allow you to open, edit, or export files
Data Handling: Files are accessed only when you initiate an action (e.g., open, save, export). We do not transmit files to any server.

2.4 Network / Internet Access

Permission: Full network access / view network connections
Purpose:
- Display help pages or documentation (if available)
- Enable export or sharing only when you choose to use external apps or services
Data Handling: We do not send your images, location, or personal data to our servers. The app does not perform background data transfers.

3. Third-Party Services

FieldPrism does not include:

Analytics services
Advertising SDKs
Crash reporting tools
Social login integrations

However, external services you choose to use—such as email apps, cloud storage, or your device manufacturer—may process data under their own privacy policies. We do not control how those third parties handle your data.

4. Data Retention

Because we do not collect or store data on our servers, we retain no personal information. All images, metadata, and files remain on your device or wherever you explicitly export them.

To delete data created by the app, you may:

Delete images or files directly from your device
Uninstall the app

5. Children’s Privacy

FieldPrism is rated E for Everyone and does not collect personal data from any user, including children. Since no user information is ever gathered, no profiles or records of minors are created or maintained.

6. Security

Because data never leaves your device, its security is governed by:

Your device’s operating system
Lock screen security (PIN, password, biometrics)
Local storage protections
Any third-party services you choose to use (e.g., cloud backups)

We recommend keeping your device updated and using strong security settings.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect improvements to the app or changes in legal requirements. When updates occur, the “Last updated” date will be revised. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
